A police officer who was responding to a call was shocked when he saw the passenger door of a car driving in front of him swing open and a man jumped out.
The Skagit County Jail Coordinating Council voted tentatively Friday to build a new county jail, if voters agree to tax increases. The council, made up of mayors, judges and county commissioners, voted 7-1, with Burlington Mayor Steve Sexton voting no.
