A full day of festivities is planned for the Fourth, including a town photo, a parade, a patriotic program, 5 hours of rock music, all topped off with a fireworks show over Fidalgo Bay.

The Anacortes Guemes Channel Trail project was boosted by a $700,000 appropriation in the state’s biennial budget. These budget dollars will fund construction of a pivotal section of the waterfront trail.

Please remember that the Anacortes Municpal Code outlaws the possession, purchase and / or discharge of any fireworks within the city limits unless a special permit for a public display has been issued by City Hall. 

A warm Saturday afternoon brought a handful of men to the small area off Seafarers Memorial Park to race their radio-controlled model sailboats. They meet here on many Saturdays, but this Saturday was warmer than usual.

Two local senior citizens reported fraud activity to the Police Department this past week. One reported a lost of nearly $5,000, but another managed to avoid the scam and reported it.

Very warm weather is expected over much of western Washington through early next week.
