Temporary span could be in place next month

State officials Sunday announced a plan for a temporary repair to the collapsed I-5 bridge span and they said the fix could be in place in less than a month. A permanent fix could be open by September.

The I-5 bridge across the Skagit River between Burlington and Mount Vernon collapsed Thursday night. One section of the four sections that cross the river dropped into the river. Several cars were visible shortly after the collapse.
