State officials Sunday announced a plan for a temporary repair to the collapsed I-5 bridge span and they said the fix could be in place in less than a month. A permanent fix could be open by September.

A 23-year-old Mount Vernon man faces charges of identity theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of a legend drug without a prescription after a witness reported he had been in possession of several stolen credit cards.  

Several signs indicate that some Anacortes businesses may benefit from the I-5 bridge collapse. Some may lose. And, the Chamber of Commerce is doing its part to help boost Anacortes.

In response to Thursday's collapse of the I-5 bridge near Mount Vernon, state and local officials released on Saturday a detailed system of alternate travel routes.

The I-5 bridge collapse over the Skagit River will impact not only I-5 traffic, but the detours will impact local residents because of the increased traffic. As things stand Friday morning, traffic looks to be busy on Riverside Dr. and Burlington Blvd. between East College Way in Mount Vernon and Highway 20 in Burlington.

The I-5 bridge across the Skagit River between Burlington and Mount Vernon collapsed Thursday night. One section of the four sections that cross the river dropped into the river. Several cars were visible shortly after the collapse.
