As a part of the Safe Routes to Schools Project, the City's contractor will be closing the 22nd and M Ave intersection to traffic from Monday until approximately August 16, 2013.

Skagit County Commissioners will hold a public hearing in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room, 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon, Washington on July 16, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, to consider public testimony and consider new fares for logging trucks using the Guemes ferry.

This month, First Friday Gallery Walk will feature birthdays and Europe at two different galleries. 

Crews are preparing for dredging and other work at the former Custom Plywood mill site in Anacortes. Contaminated sediments and old, toxics-leaching pilings will be pulled from Fidalgo Bay starting in the middle of this month.

A full day of festivities is planned for the Fourth, including a town photo, a parade, a patriotic program, 5 hours of rock music, all topped off with a fireworks show over Fidalgo Bay.

The Anacortes Guemes Channel Trail project was boosted by a $700,000 appropriation in the state’s biennial budget. These budget dollars will fund construction of a pivotal section of the waterfront trail.
