School district and teachers union reach agreement

The Anacortes School District and the teachers union have reached a tentative contract settlement, pending approval by members of the teachers union, thus avoiding the threat of a walkout at the start of classes.

An Anthony's Restaurant could open next to Cap Sante Marina sometime next summer, if the Port Commissioners approve a lease for the property when they meet Thursday night. 

City calls for water conservation

The city has issued an appeal to conserve water because the Skagit River, where Anacortes gets its water, is unusually low and below the minimum required to protect habitat. And, the city says the river is expected to stay low for several days.

Mail drop box moved... Again

That mail drop box that had been moved from the Post Office parking lot to Fifth St. has been moved again. Now it's located on Sixth St. next to the Post Office and across the sidewalk from the street.
