The Port of Anacortes and Anthony's Restaurant chain have signed a lease that will allow Anthony's to build a restaurant near the boat launch at Cap Sante Marina.

The Anacortes Chamber of Commerce recently submitted brief questionnaires to candidates for public office. Here are the responses from incumbent Mayor Dean Maxwell and challenger Steve Sonnenberg.

The city stands to receive nearly $100,000 from the state to help the city update its shoreline policies and development regulations, also called a “shoreline master program.” 

The city has replaced more than a half-dozen trees along Sixth St. after repairing the sidewalk which was being broken up by the trees.

A Police officer had to shot and kill an injured deer this week. And, police investigated several burglaries reported in downtown businesses on Friday.

Coast Aviation, which started up in 2008, just this summer received authority to carry passengers on scenic flights from Anacortes Airport.
