The March Gallery Walk features new pastels by Whidbey Island artist Sandy Byers at Scott-Milo and a new collection of sculptures by Leo Osborne at Burton Jewelers. The Gallery Walk is Friday from 6 – 9 pm.

A sunny and warmish work party was held last Saturday, where volunteers Hershel Janz, Gene Kiver, Sara White, and Diana Burr ripped out over a 200 large invasive scotch broom plants along trail 126 in the Anacortes Community Forest Lands. The volunteers in this photo weren't identified.

The School Board has announced three finalists for the post of School Superintendent to replace current superintendent Chris Borgen, who will retire this summer.

The body of a 69-year old Anacortes man missing since Feb. 16, has been found near Sedro-Woolley and the man's granddaughter is under arrest as the Sheriff's Office looks for a man who may be connected with the death.

The Guemes Ferry fights high winds and tide Monday afternoon as it comes in for a landing at the Anacortes ferry terminal. Ferry service was on and off Monday because of the confluence of high winds and tides. Area airports recorded gusts to 56 miles per hour.
