Another change at the Port of Anacortes as Port Commissioners wipe out the job of Deputy Executive Director of the Port, Chris Johnson, just a month after forcing Bob Hyde to resign from the top job.

The lighting of the community Christmas tree kicked off the annual Holiday Art Walk Friday night and a weekend full of holiday events in Anacortes.

High wind, combined with a high tide, last Friday night and Saturday morning damaged parts of the Guemes Trail underpinnings, forcing the trail to be closed while repairs are being made.

The Community Christmas Tree, a 30 foot hemlock, was cut Wednesday morning, then delivered and set up in front of the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce office Wednesday afternoon in anticipation of the annual tree lighting on Friday night.
