Following up on a discussion that started last fall, the City Council approved an ordinance that sets benefits for the mayor, including setting vacation time.

It was a quiet New Years, but three minutes into the new year, Anacortes Police Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Commercial Avenue per the report of a male subject urinating on a building and turning over planter boxes in the area.

Fire destroyed a car and the garage the care was in at a home in the 5400 block of Sunset Ave. Friday morning, according to the Anacortes Fire Department.

Two men were medevaced to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following a late night head-on collision Tuesday night on Oakes Ave. The collision, just west of Anacopper Rd., prompted the closure of Oakes for a few hours following the 10 pm accident.

A gurney is rushed into a doctor’s office at Island Hospital as part of a drill Tuesday night. The drill’s scenario: an angry patient comes to the doctor’s office and shoots and injures four patients, who needed to be taken to the hospital’s Emergency Room.
