The WT Preston, an antique boat parked on city property on R Avenue, was broken into over the weekend, likely sometime between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, Apr. 1.
In honor of his wife, Dr. Sylvia Maxson, Dr. Robert Maxson has donated $100,000 to the Anacortes Public Library Foundation to support the children's wing at the Anacortes Library. The wing will be named the Dr. Sylvia Maxson Children’s Library.
The library will close for two weeks to accommodate re-carpeting work through the first floor of the library. The Community Meeting Room and Friend’s Book Shop will remain open during this re-carpeting project. Regularly scheduled programs for all ages will continue in the meeting room.
Two motorcycle riders were injured, one take to the hospital, following an accident on Heart Lake Road. The driver was cited for DUI.
