A grassroots search party is being organized to look for popular retired Anacortes High School counselor Keith Anderson, who has been missing for a week. And, a candlelight vigil is planned for Wednesday night.

(Updated Jan. 12, 2010) Popular retired Anacortes High School counselor Keith Anderson has been missing for nearly a week, and friends have set a candlelight vigil for 6pm Wednesday at Causland Park.

A bank closure notice on the front door of the Horizon Bank branch on Commercial Ave. tells the news that Horizon Bank was closed and that starting Monday, January 11, the bank will operate as a branch of Washington Federal Savings.

A police officer surprised a youth as he was using a hammer to beat on a cash register inside a coffee stand on Tuesday. When asked what he was doing, the boy answered, ”breaking and entering.”

Looks like the roundabout at Commercial Ave. and Highway 20, shown here in a state DOT aerial photo, has been good news, traffic-wise. No accidents since the roundabout opened last summer.
