Early election results give Democrats Kris Lytton and Jeff Morris small leads over their Republican opponents for the two 40th District seats in the state Legislature.

Local Democrats are trying to get some last-minute campaigning in Tuesday afternoon at 12th & Commercial. Dems are facing lots of tough races, but who knows how tough an election bid by Kris Lytton or a re-election bid by Rick Larsen are now.

There was a nearly-constant stream of voters dropping their ballots at the one Ballot Drop Box on the island on Election morning. Most were in cars, but this man walked up while we were watching the traffic. The Drop Box, by the way, is on Ninth St. behind the library.

Chef David Burdette says he's ready for Tuesday's opening of Cameron's To Go, the newest restaurant to open in downtown Anacortes. Burdette calls the food "regional American-European," with decadent homemade items. 

A 33-year-old Anacortes woman was jailed and charged with assault and referred for a second assault charge in two separate assaults at Island Hospital.

This child sure liked the look of all that candy being handed out at Anne Martin McCool's gallery as many downtown merchants invited the town's kids to Trick-or-Treat on Saturday afternoon, even though it wasn't yet really Halloween. The Big Picture is even cuter.
