Seattle consultant Makers Architecture and Urban Design will hold the kick-off public session for the Anacortes Futures Project on Thursday night at City Hall. The project is designed to learn how Anacortes residents view their community in the years ahead.

A Skagit County jury has convicted 42-year-old Michiel Oakes of first degree murder of Fidalgo Island dog trainer T. Mark Stover. Oakes testified during his trial that he didn't come forward because he didn't think authorities would believe he killed in self-defense.
