With the help of Anacortes Police, a city crew that picked up several bags of trash on Highway 20 located the owner and delivered it back to their home so they could dispose of it properly.

The two-person crew from Skagit Valley College's Marine Tech Center in Anacortes paddled to a victory in Saturday's Quick 'n' Dirty boat building contest at the Waterfront Festival. After building the boat using pre-established materials, including a lamp, the competitors raced down a raceway at Cap Sante Marina.

Kids of all ages were having fun building small sailboats to float in a nearby water pool on a bright and sunny Saturday at this weekend's two-day Waterfront Festival at Cap Sante Marina.

The historic schooner Adventuress, Puget Sound’s environmental tall ship will be in Anacortes this weekend as part of the Waterfront Festival and will offer public tours on Saturday and Sunday, as well as an evening sail on Saturday.

Anacortes Schools Foundation will offer a new program this summer that combines hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) with active summer fun.  

The City Council has given the go ahead to sign an agreement with the Samish Indian Nation for city services on Samish property on Highway 20 once the property is off the tax rolls and in trust.
