Pass Lake in Deception Pass State Park is being closed to all recreational use due to high levels of microcystins, a toxic cyanobacteria. The safe level is about six; the lake is over 1,000.

Rep. Kristine Lytton has been selected by her caucus to chair the state House of Representatives’ influential Finance Committee.

The state Department of Transportation is reviewing old plans for Sharpes Corner, where, in 2008, the state was considering a roundabout. But, with new funding, the DOT is taking another look at the intersection and plans for the roundabout may die in the process.

A 42 year-old Anacortes woman was arrested and taken to Skagit County Jail on two drug charges, one of which was filed after a search revealed a baggy containing what was presumed to be meth in a body cavity.
