The fire at Little Cranberry Lake is now 90% contained and improving. Fire crews from the state Department of Natural Resources remain working 14-16-hour shifts.
Several calls were received regarding a large deer with a hammock entangled around its antlers that was wandering from yard to yard near 22nd Street and E Ave.
Firefighters continue to work on stopping the fire along the east edge of Little Cranberry Lake in the Anacortes forest lands, according to a Saturday morning update from the city.
(Updated) Mayor Gere Saturday thanked the fire teams working on the Little Cranberry Lake fire, now mapped at 18.39 acres. And, as of Saturday night, the fire is 85 percent contained.
(Uodated 8:00 pm Friday) As two water-dropping helicopters and fire crews work on a fire just east of Little Cranberry Lake, the city says the fire may need “active management” for several weeks, adding that no evacuations are expected.
Water-dropping helicopters have been brought in to fight a fire in the Anacortes Community Forest Lands on the east side of Little Cranberry Lake and just west of Forest Ridge.
