Firefighters continue to work on stopping the fire along the east edge of Little Cranberry Lake in the Anacortes forest lands, according to a Saturday morning update from the city.

(Updated) Mayor Gere Saturday thanked the fire teams working on the Little Cranberry Lake fire, now mapped at 18.39 acres. And, as of Saturday night, the fire is 85 percent contained.

(Uodated 8:00 pm Friday) As two water-dropping helicopters and fire crews work on a fire just east of Little Cranberry Lake, the city says the fire may need “active management” for several weeks, adding that no evacuations are expected.

Water-dropping helicopters have been brought in to fight a fire in the Anacortes Community Forest Lands on the east side of Little Cranberry Lake and just west of Forest Ridge.

The 3rd Annual Anacortes Open Streets will be happening this Sunday from 11am to 3pm in downtown Anacortes. Downtown will be cleared of cars and opened to bicyclists, walkers, strollers, and skaters…non-motorized movers of all types.
