As evening sets in, the activities of the day are winding down. You’ve toured historic downtown, dined at one of Anacortes’s many restaurants, and are ready to settle down for the night. But, the sun has one last experience you don’t want to miss–a Fidalgo Island sunset.

Skagit County and the state Department of Ecology have studied the potential environmental impacts from Shell’s proposed crude-by-rail unloading facility in Anacortes and published a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for public review.

Two Anacortes residents were booked into Skagit County Jail this week after officers, thanks to the APD canine T-Bone, located pieces of foil suggesting heroin use in their vehicle. The sedan was stopped after simply failing to use a turn signal while making a turn.
