Two women who evidently had been drinking caused a ruckus in a downtown market shortly after 2 am one recent morning when they tried to buy more alcohol, prompting a call to the police.

More than 50 Anacortes High School graduates received scholarships worth a total of nearly $100,000 at this week’s scholarship ceremony hosted by the Anacortes Schools Foundation. After the ceremony, the students gathered on stage for a group photo.
