First Friday Gallery Walk features new exhibitions at several galleries, including whimiscal, upbeat work at Insights by Anne Schreivogl, who says of her own work “Creating art is a way of interacting with and better understanding my surroundings.  It allows me to see details that would otherwise go unnoticed.”

One week after being launched, BMW ORACLE Racing’s new 90-foot $10-million trimaran yacht hoisted sail in Anacortes for the first time Monday and began its shakedown in 6-8 knots of breeze over four hours of testing on the Rosario Strait.

A resident of the 4500 block of Anaco Beach Road reported that her son had awakened to a blonde female in her 30’s wearing neatly done make-up and stiletto heels inside their house.  The son told the strange woman to leave, and the stranger apparently asked “Would you like me to turn the light off?”  The mother then also told the stranger to leave and described her as “superwoman” as the stranger reportedly jumped over two crab pots and a retaining wall as she left.  The mother reported that the stranger was calm and polite, but was possibly under the influence of drugs.  The mother reported the incident due to past burglar activity in the neighborhood.
