The first phase of San Juan Passage, a new housing development that will eventually grow to 100 units, has won the City Council’s approval.

The City Council has approved a $45 million city budget for next year which includes a one percent hike in the city’s property tax levy, the maximum allowed under the law without a vote by city residents. 

An Anacortes woman called 911 last week to report that she was following a car on Highway 20 that appeared to have a human hand and foot sticking out of the trunk.

If you haven’t received your November election ballot, you may have been ruled ineligible to vote. If you want to vote, you’ll need to call or see the County Auditor’s office on Monday, the deadline for registering.
