As expected, the City Council has rescinded an illegal utility tax exemption for 14 agencies in Anacortes that the city had not been collecting since 1993. The city may have to pay nearly $50,000 to the state in uncollected taxes.

We were told there'd be pirates at the Latitudes & Attitudes cruise party at Cap Sante Marina this weekend, but we didn't suspect they'd look so dangerous. In addition to these 'pirates,' there was live music all afternoon Saturday. The partying continues Sunday. (Richard Grosvenor photo)
