The Anacortes School District plans to transition school next year from a district-run pre-school to an expanded partnership with the YMCA for services at Whitney Early Learning Center.

In Skagit County, in the last three weeks alone, the county has seen more flu cases than the rest of the season combined. To date, the county has seen four deaths attributed to influenza this season. 

The city will start work conducting an emergency repair beginning on Monday, April 1 from the SR Highway 20 Spur exit to just south of the Fidalgo Bay Resort and RV Park on Fidalgo Bay Road.  

Wednesday must have been sleepy-time Wednesday this week…as police officers woke up a motorist who was asleep in his vehicle at a small park and another person asleep in front of a store.

Anthony’s at Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes hosted their annual Community Benefit Dinner for the Anacortes Rotary Club earlier this month where they helped raise $20,000 to go towards community and educational programs in Anacortes. 

A new exhibit at the Anacortes Museum called Extra! Extra! The Early Years of Anacortes Newspapers calls attention to the role of newspapers and journalists on Fidalgo and Guemes islands. It also celebrates the new online availability of the first 40 years of Anacortes newspapers.
