Anacortes Police have launched a sting in an effort to locate sexual predators in the area who target children.

The state Liquor Control Board has received five applications from businesses on Fidalgo Island to grow marijuana and only one application from the island to sell it.

Dick Schusler, John Conlee, Bob Easton, John Fuik and others at  Chandler’s Square retirement community have been busy. The efforts of building a model train track has been a daily occupation for them for nearly a year.

A sting operation resulted in the arrest by Anacortes Police of a 49-year-old Mount Vernon man after he traveled to Anacortes to meet with a 13-year-old girl to have sex.  

Completion of the roundabout project at 22nd St. and R Ave has been delayed and the city now says it won’t be finished and open to traffic until Dec. 6.
