A “scoping” report which summarizes over 35,000 comments from the public, agencies and tribes concerning Shell’s proposed oil unloading facility at March Point was released on Friday and is now available on the Internet.

The Anacortes City Council on Monday confirmed Mayor Gere’s appointment of Darcy Swetnam as the City Attorney. She began working at the City last May as the Assistant City Attorney and will begin her assignment as the City Attorney on January 1 of next year.

Police arrested an Anacortes man on assault and unlawful imprisonment charges when he showed up at the hospital to visit  the assault victim who was talking to police.

The ;city has set a series of pubic hearings in January on a proposed 2016 Comprehensive Plan, the bludprint that guides the city’s growth over the next 20 years.

Verizon has erected the first of what could be three new cellular phone towers in the city. The new 70-foot tower near Commercial Ave. and 32nd St. went up earlier this week.

The number of retail marijuana stores allotted for Anacortes will double to two under new allocations established by the state Liquor and Cannabis Board. One store is now operating in the city.
