The ferry Samish is expected to be out of dry dock at Dakota Creek Industries this week and ready for tests before resuming duty in the state ferry system.

Several transportation projects in the area, including one at Sharpes Corner and the Anacortes state ferry terminal, are included in the state transportation budget okayed by the Senate this week.

The Anacortes FIRST Robotics Team 3238 are winners again, after competing against 39 other FIRST robotics teams from Washington State, and finishing as District Champions and winners of the Industrial Safety Award and Imagery Award last weekend. 

The Anacortes School District plans to work with students and staff to select one AHS Seahawks logo in the next few weeks -- to be used with the opening of the new high school in 2018.

911 Dispatch advised Anacortes Police that someone had called 911 to report a Police car parked near Sharps Corner with its door open, but it washn't quite what it seemed to the caller.

Mayor Gere will present her annual State of the City address next week at City Hall, a few hours after delivering it privately to members of the Chamber of Commerce.
