A traffic accident at the new Sharpes Corner roundabout, as drivers learn the rules of the road.

At 8 p.m. Monday (July 9), crews from Lakeside Industries will start work to pave the four-lane stretch of SR 20 Spur between Sharpes Corner and the Commercial Avenue roundabout.

City Parks Director Gary Robinson announced in a heartfelt note that he is planning to retire after being with the city for 33 years. 

Anacortes Police cited two motorists for driving with licenses that had been suspended nine years ago. One was stopped for speeding through the 35 mph Sharpes Corner roundabout construction zone at 65 mph.

Police listed no reportable incidents for three days this week, but said they nabbed a teenager driving 89 miles per hour on Highway 20 near the Sharpes Corner roundabout on Thursday night.
