Anacortes Police arrested and sent to county jail an Anacortes man who was stopped for speeding on Q Ave, but when stopped was discovered to have several beer cans on the floor of his car.

Skagit County Public Health on Tuesday was notified of the first positive case of 2019 novel coronavirus COVID-19 in a Skagit County resident. The patient is a woman in her 40s and is at home in isolation. The individual appears to have acquired COVID-19 through community transmission.

City acting to close Anacortes Senior Center and is cancelling events there in light of new recommendations from Skagit County Health Dept. 

The School District has announced new cancellations of student activities and community events. 

The Skagit County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday declared a public health emergency on COVID-19. This will allow Skagit County to take the immediate steps necessary to prepare and respond appropriately to this State outbreak.
