 Experienced mariner Skip Dassler discusses what boaters should know about how ships are organized and the difference between U.S. Navy ships and merchant marine ships. Dassler retired from the Navy in 1984, and became a merchant marine deck hand before coming ashore to run an Anacortes boatyard until his retirement.
