State Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen received a commemorative "Saved" poster Friday night at the Anacortes Waterfront Festival kickoff dinner.

State to purchase two local islands

The state has agreed to purchase two islands at the south end of Similk Bay using state and federal funds.  Kiket and Flagstaff islands have been offered to the state by their owners. The islands will become part of Deception Pass State Park.

Proposed zoning changes draw crowd to City Hall

Proposals to add new restrictions along the Guemes Channel waterfront and in Old Town drew a large crowd to City Hall Wednesday night.
