Anacortes Police are looking for help in identifying the vandals who damaged the soccer field at Kiwanis Meadows at Smiley's Bottom.
Police posted on Facebook that it could cost the city as much as $2,000 to repair the damage.
The Facebook post said, "After the weather we had last week, it is safe to say that people were probably super excited to see the snow melting. Our friends at the Anacortes Parks Department, however, were not very excited to see that extensive damage had been done to the Kiwanis Meadows soccer field as a result of vehicles driving in circles on it in the snow. At this point, it is anticipated that the cost to repair the field will be around $2,000."
If you have any information as to who caused this damage, please contact Anacortes Police dispatch center at (360) 428-3211 and request to speak to an Officer about case 21-A08870. The dispatch center is staffed 24 hours a day.
Our parks are one of the things that make our community a great place. Let’s do our best to take good care of them in the future so others can enjoy them.
