An Anacortes police officer used a Taser to subdue a suspect who had led officers on a brief chase on Thursday afternoon.
Thursday afternoon at about 2:40 PM Anacortes Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call on J Ave. The male suspect at the scene was reported to be making threatening statements and was believed to be armed with a gun.
As Officers arrived the suspect got in a vehicle, refused commands that he turn off the vehicle, and took off, driving erratically. Officers followed the suspect and observed him drive off the roadway near 29th St and K Ave.
He traveled through a yard and the vehicle struck a residence. The suspect refused to get out of the vehicle and appeared to be trying to find a way to drive off again.
After refusing to comply with several verbal commands, a Taser was deployed and the suspect was taken in to custody.
Fortunately, there were no injuries. The suspect, a 51 year-old Anacortes resident, was transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
