Skagit County shellfish harvest closure expands due to Red Tide

Elevated levels of Paralytic Shellfish Toxin (Red Tide) have now been found in several recreational harvest locations throughout Skagit County.

Due to these levels, the Washington State Department of Health has now closed the following locations to recreational shellfish harvesting:

The expanded closure was announced today, Sept. 28, 2018.  These areas  will remain closed until additional sampling indicates toxin levels have declined.

Early symptoms of Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning include numbness and tingling around the lips and some loss of motor control.   If you have any of these symptoms after eating shellfish, have someone take you to the emergency room immediately or call 911 for assistance.
