Cleaner air is forcast for the coming days. Meanwhile, an air quality alert remains in effect until noon Friday. There also burn bans in effect.

Smoke from wildfires in British Columbia will continue to drift across western Washington through Friday morning. The interior, especially the Puget Sound region northward, will be the most impacted by the smoke. Expect the air quality to vary between good and unhealthy, depending on the wind direction and time of day.

Conditions are expected to begin improving Thursday night, but even more so on Friday as strengthening southerly flow aloft pushes the smoke out of the area.

Children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory illnesses aremost at risk of serious health effects. These groups should limit or avoid time outdoors.
