Firefighters continue to work on stopping the fire along the east edge of Little Cranberry Lake in the Anacortes forest lands, according to a Saturday morning update from the city.
"Last night a "rough fire line" was put in place that has encircled the fire area. Firefighters will be reinforcing that line over the next couple of days. Residents may see smoke and columns of hot spos today as the temperature warms up. Helicopters may be used today to attack any noted hot spots that are remaining.
"The Anacortes Fire Department is very appreciative of the support and donations provided by the community of food and water. We have put to good use those supplies, and still have a healthy supply remaining. If you desire to make a donation of non-perishable foods, we encourage those go to the local food banks."
