Wastewater overflow prompts health warning

The county Health Department posted a health advisory at Cap Sante Marina area because of an overflow along Q Ave on Monday.

According to the the warning, the beach area wasn’t suitable for recreational water activities, including swimming.

The city’s wastewater treatment plant, just north of Cap Sante Marina, couldn’t keep up with the inflow and water backed up and started coming out the manholes along Q Ave Mnday afternoon.

The city blocked off the street at the time until about 6:30 pm.

The city notified the state Department of Ecology and the county Heath Department that water was flowing into Cap Sante Marina, which includes the beach area at Seafarers Memorial Park.
