The Anacortes Police Department would like to remind everyone to have a safe Halloween.

Every year kids are injured in preventable traffic related incidents associated with trick or treating. We also see an increase in malicious mischief, theft, and other nuisance acts. Together, we can reduce these incidents by taking some simple prevention steps.

No Tricks Just T.R.E.A.T.’s:

Turn on your lights. Leave your outside lights on and post “No candy” signs on your door when you run out.

Report suspicious activity. Report people hiding from cars or lingering vehicles unassociated with children.

Educate your children. Make sure they are well illuminated and walk in well-lit areas. Tell them to avoid dark homes or “no candy here” houses.

Avoid dark places. Avoid long driveways or dark unpopulated shortcuts. Prevent accidents by checking costumes for view obstruction.

Team up. Travel in groups and with an adult.
