anacortes city hall

Who knew? It's estimated that two-thirds of the people who work in Anacortes don't live here and the city wants to know why, so the city has launched an online survey, hoping for answers.

This Comp Plan update will set the framework for the physical development of the city over the next 20 years. All elements of the Plan are being reviewed and updated in order to reflect changes in state law, population and employment growth, land use and changes in the community’s vision since the last periodic update.

Community participation is vital in this effort! In order to obtain input from a broad range of voices, the City is employing the use of surveys to gain a better understanding of various issues that are important to the community.

One of the issues being examined is workforce housing. Based on available data, 66% of the people who work in Anacortes do not live in Anacortes. The city would like to better understand the reasons behind this, and they are reaching out to you to ask for your assistance by completing a survey about housing.

The survey results will help the city to better understand housing preferences, and to assist in improving Comprehensive Plan goals and policies to better facilitate development of the types of housing desired by the Anacortes workforce.

Please take a moment to complete the survey by clicking on this link: Housing Survey.

There is also a Retail Spending Survey that the city is hoping to get broad participation on!
