Home sales slow in May


The median price of an Anacortes home that sold in May was $346,250, down more than ten percent from a year earlier. 

Motel license suspended

The state has suspended the license of the Holiday Motel. The state Department of Health says the motel, at 2903 Commercial Ave., poses an immediate safety hazard to guests.

Island Video is closing

The owners of Island Video have decided to shut down after trying for a year to sell the small business. Island Video will close at the end of this month.

New bank coming

Another bank is moving to town. Banner Bank, headquartered in Walla Walla, says it has purchased property here and expects to open a branch late this year or early next year. There are nine banks in Anacortes now.

Anacortes-based Alaska Ocean Seafood is sold

Anacortes-based Alaska Ocean Seafood, which owns and operates the largest and most sophisticated pollock catcher/processor in the United States, has been sold to Seattle-based Glacier Fish Company.
