The Anacortes library has scheduled an event designed to celebrate discovery and imagination in Sci-Fi. and, it’s just in time for opening weekend of the newest movie installment in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars, The Force Awakens.

Celebrate the Season returns for the 3rd year to the Port of Anacortes. This two week celebration raises funds for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) initiatives for local students.

Toxins prompt Pass Lake closure

Pass Lake in Deception Pass State Park is being closed to all recreational use due to high levels of microcystins, a toxic cyanobacteria. The safe level is about six; the lake is over 1,000.

Art bridges the Salish Sea

An international air will pervade the First Friday Art Walk in November as Anacortes partners with its Sister City of Sidney, BC, to present “The Salish Sea Art Exhibit,” original, juried artwork by artists from BC’s Saanich Peninsula.
