@Rockfish: Red House

Sat. Aug 6, 2022 7:30 pm

Red House isn’t just a Blues band. They embrace many of the idioms that sprang from the Blues; R&B, Soul, Funk and even a little Jazz. And each musician brings to the table almost 50 years of experience and expertise. That’s one reason why Red House is the band other bands come to see.

Red House is: Tim Scott (Bassist, Vocals) – Tim co-founded The Reputations (Seattle Music Award for ‘Best R&B Band’). Having lived in LA and Las Vegas for 25 years, he toured with Tower of Power, Robben Ford, Dave Mason, Etta James, The Bone Shakers, El Chicano and Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Tim has also performed with Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Dr. John, Billy Preston, Edgar Winter, Chaka Kahn, Buddy Miles, Albert Collins, Big Joe Turner, John Mayall, Herbie Hancock, Steve Vai, Al Dimeola, Randy Brecker, Zen Blues Quartet and many more. Returning to Seattle, he has called on his talented friends to help “stir things up”.

Robin Crane (Drummer) – Played with Tim and Mark in their first club band, Glory (see PNWBands.com, 70’s section). Robin also played with local bands of the era; Sluggo, Shirley Lorrene, Jeff Simmons (Frank Zappa), Epicentre and Clear Logic. In California, various original projects including session guitarist/producer Louie Shelton (Seals & Crofts); opening for Cold Blood, The Grass Roots and Larry Graham. Back in Seattle; blues/rock band Pale Men (nominated for ‘Best New Blues Band’) and the Dick Powell Band (winner of WBS ‘Best Keyboard & Harmonica’ nomination).

Mark Noftsger (Guitarist) – Mark worked with Tim and Robin in their first pro band, Glory, then playing in Sluggo with Robin. He later moved to Hawaii and put together an R&B/Soul horn band, opening for Sea Wind and Tina Turner. Back in Seattle, Mark played in various local bands, including News and Transit. When Robin moved back to the Northwest, they formed Pale Men, which became the Dick Powell Band. They played various blues clubs and festivals, including Bumbershoot and were nominated for WBS Awards ‘Best New Blues Band’. Mark most recently played as featured soloist with the Curtis Hammond Band.

Mike Jaap (Keyboards, Vocals) – With the sad passing of singer/keyboardist James “Jimmy” Holden, Tacoma’s own Michael Jaap, one of most talented musicians in the Northwest, has joined forces with Red House. A fine singer & multi-keyboardist, Mike contributes greatly to the band. He’s played in numerous bands over the years including Alive ‘n’ Well, The Reputations, Lady A and his own bands: Michael Jaap Band & Dr. Jop’s Funk Shop. Mike has also recently retired as a music educator, teaching at UPS School of Music & the Tacoma Public Schools!

@Heart of Anacortes: Randy Weeks

Sat. Aug 13, 2022 5:00 pm

Randy Weeks got his start as a member of the Lonesome Strangers who, as a part of the Los Angeles scene that included artists such as Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakam, Lone Justice, and Rank and File, helped revive country rock and launch the Americana movement. After going solo, Weeks has become acclaimed for both his songwriting and blistering guitar. His song “Can’t Let Go” became the biggest hit on Lucinda Williams’ Grammy winning album, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, and was recently recorded again by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Weeks now happily calls the Pacific Northwest home and is backed by a stellar band of local musicians, Cutts Peasley (drums), Marc Brown (bass) and Aaron Harmonson (rhythm guitar).

Voted best vocalist of 2019 by Phoenix New Times, vocal acrobat Holly Pyle channels her “liquid-like voice” and intense presence into several local and traveling music projects. Phoenix New times says “She is a big time outside-the-box thinker, and is constantly pushing the barriers of vocal melodies in her music. It is truly a sound of her own.” She has original music released under her band House of Stairs and solo project Holloh and currently resides in Glendale, California. @Rockfish: Daniel Pellegrini

Wed. Aug 17, 2022 6:00 pm

Daniel Pellegrini is a guitarist/vocalist from Issaquah where he grew up in a lush forest environment on a local mountain. A childhood love of all music grew into something more when Daniel discovered artists like Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, and Michael Jackson, which prompted him to explore all kinds of rock ‘n’ roll. It was at the age of 9 that he first picked up a guitar.

Daniel is inspired far more by 70’s and 80’s rock than present-day styles, an influence that is unmistakably present in his original songs. His music has been described as having a distinctively vintage flavor that pulls in older fans, while its modern edge to appeals to younger fans as well.

Pellegrini, Daniel’s self-titled debut EP, receives regular airplay on hard-rock Internet radio stations, and the first single release, “Walk in the Dark,” was used as a bumper on the Tom & Curley radio talk show on KIRO Radio 97.3.

Daniel’s first full-length album, Rocko Says… was released in May 2017. He plays gigs in the greater Seattle area, both as a solo artist and with his band.
