In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage, join us in remembering some of the remarkable, but often unsung, women of the Pacific Northwest. Writer Mayumi Tsutakawa presents five “woman warriors” in the arts and journalism from the past century whose stories inspire. Drawing on her own experience as an activist and writer, she explores how these women inspired others and changed our state and our society. Join us for a glimpse inside local blacksmith Paul Thorne’s studio! Thorne is a Master Blacksmith and his architectural and sculptural work can be found in homes throughout the Pacific Northwest. Learn about Thorne’s artistry, work, and life as a blacksmith as he shares tales, talks history, and demonstrates some forging. Find out how to learn about blacksmith history with the Anacortes Senior College in this in-depth video sponsored by our partnership with the Anacortes Senior Activity Center & Parks & Recreation department. If you're interested in learning the craft yourself, Paul teaches classes too.

Safe Kids Northwest is hosting a free car seat inspection event on Thursday, December 10 from 2 – 4 p.m. Learn how to properly install and use your car seat or booster seat.
