Work of Our Hands, an exhibition of 41 works by members of the San Juan County Textile Guild (SJCTG), is now open at the Pacific NW Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum, located in La Conner, WA.

Open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm, the exhibition may be viewed from May 8th through July 28th. Members of the Guild are pleased to be showcasing a wide variety of their best work, including baskets, wearables, rugs, sculptures, wall-art, and linens. The techniques represented include: weaving, crochet, knitting, various rug/tapestry-making methods, fiber-collage, basketry, needle-point embroidery, nuno-felting, and doll making. Most of the works are original designs. This exhibit occupies the entire third floor of the Museum.

In addition, the SJCTG is exhibiting 29 Knitted Tempestry Panels, which visually depict daily temperature data collected by the NOAA weather station located on Orcas Island (Olga, WA) in 4-year increments for the past 100 years. This exhibition, located on the first floor of the Museum, will be open for the entire month of May during regular Museum hours. There are also 5 Freeform Tempestry Projects located in the 3rd floor exhibit.

An Opening Reception for both exhibits will be held at the Museum from 3 to 5 pm on Saturday, May 18th. The Reception is open to the public, admission free. Many members of the SJCTG will be available at the Reception to answer viewers’ questions about the works.
