The Police Blotter, Sept. 25, 2010

A chocolate Labrador puppy was reunited with its mother and litter mates and a 21-year-old Anacortes woman was arrested on outstanding warrants following an investigation of a puppy taken from the Humane Society in Burlington earlier this month.

An Animal Control Officer heard about the theft and became suspicious as a similar puppy was recently in the pound following the arrest of its owner. The puppy had appeared too young to be away from its mother and the owner was unable to give much detail about how she acquired the dog. Officers contacted the woman on Friday and verified the puppy’s identity from a Humane Society photo. The woman was arrested on several outstanding warrants but no charges will be filed for the puppy theft.
