Another bank is moving to town. Banner Bank, headquartered in Walla Walla, says it has purchased property here and expects to open a branch late this year or early next year. There are nine banks in Anacortes now.
Doug Bayne, vice-president and marketing director for the bank, said Banner Bank has had its eye on Anacortes for some time. He said they have purchased a lot at 18th St and Commercial Ave for $580,000. Anacortes Iron had been located there. The lot was recently cleared.
Banner Bank recently purchased Islanders Bank, with branches on San Juan, Orcas and Lopez islands. And, the bank opened a branch in Oak Harbor recently. In Anacortes, Banner Bank plans a full-service branch with drive-through and ATM.
Banner Bank has 94 branches and lending centers in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Its holdings are $4.6 billion.
