Shoppers look for fireworks on the Swinomish Reservation as the Fourth approaches. The Anacortes Police remind city residents that fireworks are illegal at all times.
Police Chief Bonnie Bowers said "If you possess or discharge them it is a $100.00 fine." She said fireworks like bottle rockets and firecrackers are illegal everywhere (except on the reservation) and carry a $250 fine. Reckless discharging of fireworks - like shooting bottle rockets at other people etc. carries an even-heftier fine - $500.
There will be a public fireworks display by Western Display Fireworks at around 10:30 Sunday night over Fidalgo Bay. The display will be set off near T Ave and 30th St on state land. Parking will not be allowed in the area.
