Sixth St. re-construction starts this week Print

Traffic along Sixth Ave. east of the Guemes Ferry Landing will be re-routed for the next 2 months while the city re-constructs Sixth from the ferry landing east to K Ave. That portion of Sixth will be closed starting Tuesday, Mar. 9.

 
AHS students pick up film awards Print

A team of Anacortes High School students picked up two awards at a recent video competition in Bellingham. The AHS students’ production, To Die Alone, won the Judges’ third place award and the Audience Choice second place award at the Guerilla Film Project.

 
America's Cup trophy to visit Anacortes Print

The America's Cup trophy, shown here during a reception in San Diego earlier this week, will be brought to Anacortes for a visit, probably in early April, according to Mayor Dean Maxwell. The winning boat, build here by BMW Oracle Racing, won the cup in races off Valencia, Spain earlier this month.

 
City & PUD request voluntary water conservation Print

Due to low water flow conditions in the Skagit River, the city of Anacortes and Skagit PUD water customers are being asked to voluntarily reduce their water usage at this time by 10 percent.

 
Government, business leaders praise Futures Project Print

In an unprecendented meeting together, the City Council, the Port Commissioners and Chamber of Commerce members agreed that the Anacortes Futures Project, designed to create a strategic economic development plan for the city, needs to move ahead.
