A new survey by the Chamber of Commerce suggests that Anacortes residents want to see more shops in town, including clothing and shoe stores and a large retail store. The survey also polled non-residents, who reported they like the shops, restaurants and the small town feel of Anacortes.

Tesoro says it expects to have the March Point refinery back in operation in the next month or two. "We now believe the refinery will be operational in early October," said Tesoro spokesman Lynn Westfall.

The popular upscale restaurant Star Bar closed down over the weekend. A sign in the front window says, "The Star Bar is closed for business. We will continue to host special events and catering functions."

Tesoro's March Point refinery will likely stay shut down until the end of June, according to a company official. The director of investor relations Scott Phipps told analysts on Friday, "There is no estimated time for restart."
