Harvest Time!Posted by Keri Knapp in Farmers Market |
|
September is the perfect time of the year to get yourself to the market. Our farmers' fields are overflowing with incredible harvest bounties! Find just about everything you need this week at the Anacortes Farmers Market.
Remember, in conjunction with Slow Foods Eat Local Week, the Farmer's Market will be hosting our 1st Annual Harvest Festival at the market on September 19th. We will be featuring a Pie Baking Contest (to enter, call Keri @ (360) 293-7922 for more information), Waterless Apple Bobbing, Cider Pressing and Live Music by The Shady's and Spoonshine Duo. You do not want to miss all the fun, so be sure to mark your calendar for September 19th.
AFM is also asking our community to bring down a non-perishable food item to help our local food banks build up stock for the upcoming Holiday Season. Market Bucks will be given to the first 50 customers who drop off at the Market Manager booth next Saturday, September 19th.
What's Fresh!
Tomatoes, Beans, Corn, Squash, carrots, apricots, peaches, plums, raspberries, blueberries, loganberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, eggplant, zucchini, purslane, spinach, peas, potatoes, garlic, lettuce, chard, bunch beets, turnips, radishes, kohlrabi, mixed greens, mushrooms, sunflower sprouts, chevre, feta, mozzarella, cheddar, butter, cream, halibut, prawns, grass-fed beef & pork.
