Dick Troberg, who does these same workshops for the Sea Grant programs in Seattle and Port Townsend, will be in Anacortes. The Marine Corrosion Workshop is planned for Saturday, February 27th, and the Marine Electrical Wiring Workshop is planned for Saturday, March 20th. Class will meet at Emerald Marine Carpentry in Anacortes.
The cost to attend the Marine Corrosion Workshop is $35 for an ACMC Member or Friend and $45 for a non-member; the cost to attend the Marine Electrical Workshop is $40 for an ACMC Member or Friend and $50 for a non-member. Space is limited. Each work shop is planned for 10 participants only to ensure a true learning experience. Lunch is provided. Please register ASAP to secure a place in the workshop or waiting list.
The Marine Corrosion Workshop is a 1-day hands-on style class for marine professionals and boat owners who wish to learn more about corrosion protection in a marine enviorment. The material presented is a good introduction for technicians who plan to enroll in the ABYC corrosion certification course. Topics include galvanic corrosion of aluminum, steel, bronze, and stainless steel, standards for bonding and shore power systems including galvanic isolators and isolaltion transformers, to test methods for detecting AC and DC stray current on your boat or marina.
The Marine Electrical Workshop is a 1-day hands-on style class for boat owners who want to learn how to upgrade the electrical systems on pleasure boats and small commercial vessels. Electrical knowledge is helpful but not required. Subjects range from ABYC standards for safest wiring, wire sizes, circuit breakers, and fuse ratings, shore power circuits, engine instrument systems, and troub leshooting with multimeters and current clamps.
About the Instructor: Dick Troberg is a retired Electrical Engineer with 40 years of experience designing and installing electrical systems. His current specialty is corrosion damage investigations on marine vessels. Dick is a master technician certified by the American Boat and Yacht Council. His education includes a BSME and BSEE from the University of Washington.
